Today is the day Arizona gets to host a NFC Championship game. This has been a long time coming. Let's hope it ends in happiness and a Super Bowl berth for the Cardinals. I surely hope so.

The first half going Arizona's way with 3 Touchdowns and 1 field goal answered by only 2 Phili field goals. Arizona leads 24 - 6. Way to go boys... Let's close this game off in the 3rd quarter.

What a way to usher in the new year. Spent the last day of '08 and the first day of '09 in Vegas hoping that I could bid good bye to a year making money and say hello to another doing the same. Well your guess is as good as mine as to what I ended up doing... yes I did loose the money, who doesn't. But this time I ended up playing Texas Hold 'm Poker for the first time in Vegas and it was quite addictive. I could say more addictive than the first time I played blackjack.

In addition to the gambling, I was also trying out my new pass time DSLR photography. I believe I have done a decent job for a person only on his second assignment trying to learn this extremely difficult trade. Please follow this facebook link to see all the pictures. Today, for the first time in history the Arizona Cardinals are going to host a playoff game in Arizona. Hopefully the home field advantage will be enough to see the Cardinals through to the next round. I wish Kurt Warner and his boys all the best for the game, which is only 4 1/2 hours away.

A tribute to 2008

One more year has gone by so quick, and here we are just 2 days away from welcoming 2009. It just seems like yesterday when I was in College, in Calicut welcoming the new millenium and we are ready to usher in the next decade in a years time.

The world has changed a whole lot this year, with the financial meltdown and the US presidential elections captivating world attention. This was a year when the hero's of yesterday became villian's. Bankers and Wall Street executives were painted as selfish savages who only cared for their pockets and would stoop to any trick or trade to earn their multi million dollar bonus'. All of these will have a big impact on how global companies will reallign their stratergies going forward. They will have to do away with strategies will try to maximize profits in the short team and look towards long term consolidation.

The big American Auto makers were made to realise that they could not continue making products they wish, but what people earn for. Gas prices soared to great heights that made people turn of their AC's and drive with their windows rolled down in 110F temperatures in Phoenix.

For all the good things that happened in 2008, it will be remembered best for the way Wall Street and big Corporates crumpled under their own weight.

Dreamwork's Ties up with Reliance ADA

It's official now. A few months back I had mentioned about the romours that Dreamworks with Steven Spielberg were planning to end their association with Paramount and tie up with the Indian company led by Anil Ambani. It is all official now, with the deal being finalized on Sep 22nd. Although at that point of time it was expected that Paramount would continue to distribute Dreamworks movies it doesn't seem to be the case anymore. Let's wait and watch how much of an effect it has to Indian presence in Hollywood, which has pretty much been restricted to the impact of Vijay Amritraj up until now.

It's been some time that a Rock type of song from today has interested me. The last time I was drawn towards a rock song was when I started listening to Green Day. Now having listened to Viva La Vida quite a number of times, I think I am getting to a stage where I am gonna say this is one of the best rock or atleast rock like song I have listened to in quite some time. Although the rest of the album does not really do it for me, I will take just the one song. I hope that Coldplay will come up with something more very soon. They sure need some more great songs behind Yellow, Clocks and now Viva La Vida to make them a great band of our time.

With Portugal's Euro 2008 dream over last night ( after a 3-2 defeat against Germany ), it was certain that Ronaldo's future would dominate the Soccer world. It seems quite bizzare that Ronaldo would be entertaining such a thought. Is it really all about money now-a-days. He is 23 and still has another 3 years to hit his prime. Shouldn't he be looking at staying at United during these years when it is sure that Sir Alex is still going to be around for that period of time. Well I am quite happy that Portugal is out of the tournament. This atleast should make him realize that all the goals he scored and the assists he made was also because of the team that Sir Alex has built around him.

Another interesting article I read on the internet was a possible deal between Dreamworks and Reliance Big Entertainment of India. The deal is for a cash infusion of $500 to $600 million to allow Dreamworks to continue making their movies outside of its deal with Paramount. Paramount would still distribute the movies made by Dreamworks - and what does Reliance want from this ? A little more than the right to sit with Spielberg at the movie premiers. Interesting... I have been pretty preoccupied with the achievements of Manchester United the past few blogs. Now that the season is over it is time I moved on, and it has been quite a break for me from rambling on with my thoughts.

In the last one month a lot has happened. I led a bachelor's life for two weeks, became an uncle, crossed into the 30's of my life, and David Cook became the next American Idol, Obama declared himself to be the Democratic Presidential Nominee in light of Clinton's unwillingness to concede.

Manchester United maintained manager Sir Alex Ferguson's 100% record in European Cup finals by defeating Chelsea on Penalties in Moscow. In another classic encounter between the two teams, there was nothing which seperated the winner out with the game tied at 1-1 at the end of regular and extra time. Providing for more drama was the penalties where Ronaldo missed his kick and John Terry the captain of the Chelsea side hitting the post with the last kick which would have sealed Chelsea's victory. Van der Sar then saved the shot from Anelka gifting United their second crown of the season.

United started the better of the two teams with Ferguson fielding a first team in which English players took more than half of the available spots. Tevez and Rooney were up front but they did not show any of the magic co-ordination which we have been seeing during the regular season. Ronaldo started on the left wing and stayed there the entire game, not venturing to the right at all. It was this dicipline which helped United get the first goal which was a great effort involving Scholes, Brown and Ronaldo. It was Ronaldo's first goal against Chelsea and it could not have come at a better stage. United then missed two golden oppurtunities to kill the game, Carrick missing one chance and Tevez another. Chelsea hit back at the stroke of half time through Lampard getting back into the game.

The second half was all Chelsea with the woodwork denying them two chances to take the lead. The biggest thing missing from United's game was their quick flowing game of quick passes and a lot of 1-2 passes. Maybe the state of the ground was to blame with many of the players having trouble with their legs.

A red card for Drogba for slapping Vidic at the end of the 2nd half of extra time, gave United an advantage towards the closing stages of extra time but there were no goals forth coming. In the end it was to be United's night and rightly so as they have remained undefeated throughout this season in the Champions League competition.

Chelsea might feel cheated of another Cup in a season where the two teams have been going against each other. But United with two Cups to show for the effort will have the last laugh.

United CEO Gill has promised Ferguson more money to invest this year, and has ruled out that Manchester United will be tempted to take the 100 million pound offer Real Madrid is said to be getting ready to offer for Ronaldo's services next year.

The future holds bright for United. With the likes of Rooney, Ronaldo, Nani, Anderson who are all in their early 20's playing like champions. And with Carrick, Ferdinand, Brown commiting their future to the club they have a great team which have a wonderful chemistry among them. My hat's of to Sir Alex Ferguson who has proved beyond doubt that he is the best manager in the world and I feel proud to say that I am a United Fan.

We are the Champions

Manchester United did what was necessary against Wigan to secure Sir Alex's 10th Premier League Championships and ManU's 17th overall victory. Chelsea on the other hand failed to win their match against Bolton to atleast get level with ManU on points on top of the PremierLeague table. The goals from Manchester United came from the boots of Ronaldo ( 41 EPL goals this season ) and Giggs ( who matched Sir Bobby Charlton's record for most appreances for ManU). It was a wonderful match, and although ManU was not in their best passing form, they did enough. And with Chelsea giving away a goal during extra time to draw their match it was celebrations all over JJB Stadium before the match ended. Read more about the game here. Now all attention will be towards Moscow where ManU will meet Chelsea in the Champions League Final. Go ManU and get the double victory you surely deserve.

Today was one of those days.... The 5th game in the first round series in the NBA playoffs between Spurs and Suns. The Spurs leading 3-1 with the game in San Antonio. If the Suns were able to win the game then it would truly set the tone for the series with the Suns sure to win the next game at Phoenix. I decided to watch the game at Wild Bufallo wings. This is a great sports bar in Scottsdale and one of the best to go watch a Phoenix playoff game at. Since my sixth sense told me that this would be the last the Suns would play this year I decided to go for it. The place was jampacked and we did not get a seat until the second half and the game was superb. Down to the wire till the last minute. And the Suns lost again in a close game which really has shown their lack of character, something that has deserted them throughout this series. If they had the character they would not have surely lost the first game at San Antonio and maybe even the second. They did not play the game when it was needed the most. While San Antonio did. And surely the deserving team won hands-on in the end. No question about it. During the first game there were times when the Suns could have taken the game away from the Spurs but they kept giving them chance to take it back. And the Spurs did. And when the Suns were given the chance they were found wanting. In the first game and again today.

In between all this, what I forgot was today was the ManU Vs Barcelona Champions League Semi return leg. I didn't realise that I was so busy in office that this did not cross my mind the whole of today and only after I came back home and logged into my laptop did I remember that hey.. today was the game and I am so happy that ManU is into the finals of the Champions League for the first time in the last 9 years. So screw the Suns and Go ManU... Go for the double glory that you deserve. I can go to sleep a happy man.

Weekend roundup

Did not sleep on Friday night. After watching Tashan, a stylish no brainer entertainer we decided to watch the IPL match between Chennai and Kolkata. It was a much hyped confrontation between the two unbeaten teams. It turned out to be a dull affair and we ended up preferring to watch the F1 Barcelona Grand Prix qualifiers. The ManU Vs Chelsea EPL was also going on parallel and Chelsea defeated ManU courtesy of a penalty spot kick at the fag end of the match. Now this result throws up an interesting final weeks to the EPL with ManU and Chelsea now requiring to win each of their remaining matches. ManU next meets West Ham United, a team they have not defeated ( and lost against twice ) the last three times they met in the EPL. If ManU and Chelsea win their respective matches next week, we will be ensured that the winners will be decided only on the last day of the EPL season when all teams play on May 11th. The only way it can be decided next week is if Chelsea looses and ManU wins next week, which I don't see happening. Go Red Devils.

The Suns needed a lose on Saturday to go down 0-3 in the best of 7 series to be woken up. Game 4 saw an entirely different Phoenix Suns team take the floor and they brushed the Spurs team aside at one point leading by as much as 30 points. Lets see if they can take this momentum onto San Antonio where they meet the Spurs on Tuesday. In between Ferrai accounted for yet another 1,2 podium finish. They seem to have brushed aside the dissapointments of the first two Grand Prix of the year and set for yet another Championship winning year. Kimi finds himself in very unfamiliar territory. He has never lead the Championship points ladder by so many points so early in the F1 Calender year. Hamilton should be happy to be back on the Podium.

Ellen Page's best

For those who think Ellen Page has done an excellent Job in Juno go watch Hard Candy. The movie just blows you away. The composure with which Ellen plays the role of a 14 year old out to trap and punish Pedophiles is out of this world. I am really getting to like these kind of indie movies. Wonder why they don't the necessary publicity. Once in a while there is the Little Miss Sunshine's and Juno's which escape the indie circuit and gets noticed on the popular front. I hope I get to see more and better work from Ellen in years to come and she will not just faint as many of the other child prodigies.

Bought a new Lenovo 3000 Y140 Laptop. At last have been able to think outside the Dell Box. Bad experience with my last Dell Inspiron had made me promise myself that I would not inflict the pain on me again. Good that I came across a pretty good deal for the Lenovo on Tiger Direct.

Today Grey's Anatomy got back on air after a long long wait. It was worth all the wait and the new episode did not disappoint me. Was excited to see the rushes for next week's episode at the end. Adison is gonna be back. Her spin off serial does not take off until after Summer and the producers might have decided to give her some work to do till then.

This weekend's gonna be tight on sports events. The Spurs come to Phoenix on Friday to play the first of the 2 games against the Suns. The Spurs could have been coming to Phoenix down 0-2 but they lead 2-0 and they have shown they are the defending champions. Now it is time for the Suns and Shaq to show what they are made of. But I still don't like everyone referring the Suns to as Shaq's Suns. We still are very much Nash's Suns. Then on Saturday we have the ultimate mouth watering match between Man Utd and Chelsea. I believe ManU will hit the final nail into Chelsea's coffin pretty much like they did to Arsenal. Ronaldo will want to surely make some amends for the penalty miss against Barcelona mid week. The European leg of the F1 series get underway with the Barcelona Grand Prix. Will Hamilton make a comeback or will Ferrari rule over the rest. To finish of the weekend we have the Suns Vs Spurs match 4 of round 1 of the West Conference Playoffs. I hope I am not disappointed in these two games as I have been after the last two. One things for sure, I am gonna stock my house with a lot of beers this weekend. Then there is the IPL matches, but who cares about them anywayz....

Watching Movies the right way

Three Years. That's how long I have been in Phoenix now. And I would think there was not anything that I have not done or tried in the City of Phoenix yet. I was quite surprised that I was not true. I had not been to a Drive In Theatre. And last Sunday it was exactly what I did.

We have watched this in quite so many of the chick flicks that I never ever thought about doing it myself and when we were all lazying around last Sunday afternoon thinking about how to keep our lazy minds busy the idea poped up. A search in google and BHAM!!! there was one just 14 miles away from us. For $6 you could watch two movies. Bring your FM transmitter and your car and you are set.

The weather was pleasant and so we were able to sit outside the car and did not need to have the AC running the whole time. Next time we are taking our ICE Box full of bears....

A lot of things have happened since I last wrote.. I have been to India on a vacation at last, my elder brother go married.. I celebrated by wedding aniversary... And I completed 28th year of my existence in this world.. My house got broken into.. I had my what has become quite an annual affair, trip to Lake Havasu ( Fun in da Sun as Vin's rightly said once).. Formatted and reformatted my laptop over and over again to no success.. Become a proud owner of a 42'' Philips Flat Screen LCD TV.. Two of my Leads have moved on from the team.. We now have a Dog and some Birds at home in Kerala.. Aji got married, and KB has gone to India to get married.. Mahapatra is back in India and Jinu is going to be back in India soon..

A lot has been happening, and I have been flowing along in the rush of things.. A lot has happened and a lot has changed.. Time to flow along with the new flow of things..

I didn't forget you

My blog.. my blog do not be hard on me. I have not forgotten you and nor have I run out of thoughts that I want to share with you. But I have been bit by two processes' which has been killing me day in and day out.. Nd the two processes' are the net.exe and net1.exe

For quite sometime now my laptop has been getting on my nerve's. Everytime I boot it up it used to run with a 100% CPU utilization. After soon after the fan would start up and then that would be the last I could do anything on it. It was quite a frustrating experience.

So I had it completely formated and got everything installed again, and what do I find the fan start's up again on the second day of the reformat. This makes me look up in the task manager ( I couldn't open this up before the restore) and I find that the net.exe and net1.exe processes' keep popping up regularly. Hence after a lot of research using Google, I finally find a free software which will help me identify and isolate the process which is causing this to happen and deleted it from the system altogether.

So the laptop's back and so I am back to blogging.

Getting Cox Digital Connection

Man U winning their first two games with huge margins and Chelsea loosing their second game, hopes of this season not be such a one sided affair are being rekindled. This has awaken the ManU fan in me and after doing some initial research I got to know that FOX Soccer Channel through COX could bring EPL action straight to my home.
Tomorrow the person from COX will be installing the COX Digital box for me and then I will be all ready to watch EPL from the comforts of my home.
Now all I need is English beer.

Another news to share is that MetalHead is no longer playing in Bobby Q's on Wednesday from this week on. I had been over to BobbyQ's yesterday to grab a beer and did not see much of a crowd there. Later Lance working the bar said that they had voided the contract they had with Metalhead. Well I for sure will not be going there anymore Wednesday nights. Thatz Saaddd..

EPL Underway

This weekend saw the EPL get underway yet again to some exciting football. With the Italian League becoming just a formality there will be more interest in the EPL worldwide. Manchester United despite having to sell off Rudd and not replacing him have got off to a wonderful start. A 5-1 demolition of Fulham with Saha, Rolando and Rooney getting on the scoresheet very early in the match. With Rooney facing a 3 match ban it was good start for Saha showing that United do not need a replacement for Rudd up front.

Weekend Watch

It's been a long time I sat to say a few words... Hmmm... So I will start off with a good advice to all those who might be reading this.. Stay away from KANK... It's not worth the money or the time spent.. A whooping 22 reels (220 minutes) and you are left wondering what did Karan Johar think of when he made the movie.. To begin let me tell the truth.. I am not a SRK or a Karan Johar fan.. But I did love his movies KKHH and KHNH.. They were good entertainment.. I hated K3G for the precise reason that it was another 4 hour movie which had tears written all over it.. But this was too bad to be true.. The Script lacked any sort of meaning to it.. Well I would appreciate the boldness shown by him in moving away from a stereotype bollywood story and actually showing in the end that it is better to get out of a broken marriage and go after love than believe in Once married always married.

But what is shown is not the triumph of love. Towards the end of the movie it is shown SRK and Rani decide to end their relationship and go back to their spouse's to begin life yet again and give their relationship a new lease of life. Both the spouse's are though not ready to accept the infidelity and want out of the relationship. There is remorse in SRK's and Rani's characters then and they plead as if why can't this travesty be forgiven. Yet again at the end Rani again tells SRK that she had been thinking of him everyday in the last 3 years. So was the decision to end the affair and go back to their spouses just a farce. This along with the reason why they are unhappy with their marriage in the first place is something which is not portrayed sufficiently well. Well Mr Karan Johar I believe you should stick to candy floss stuff and leave these bold story lines to mature director's.

Well if anyone has been inflicted by this movie, I suggest you go and watch StepUp. A nice movie about Song and Dance it will lift you up as you won't imagine. I believe all the characters in the movie have given their best. I enjoyed it and would recommend it to all of you out there. I also wanna go and watch WTC today. Lets see how it turns out.

Really Excited today

Don't know if it is because Italy won the World Cup, or because I ordered my iPAQ H6315 today. Been going really crazy since the last one month thinking of which PDA/Smartphone to buy. Seem'd to be the logical path to follow in the next electronic equipment I owned. Actually it's been quite a long time since I bought anything. Coming back to the World Cup. I am sure the deserving team won in the end. Cannavaro was chosen as the Man of the Match. I hope he get's the golden boot too. He has been phenominal in the Italian Defence.

A harsh farewell for Zidane though. The last memory of his International playing career being a red card for a foolish reaction. I had thought he was the person with the most stable head in present international soccer, but funny what situations make you do.

Moving on to other things. I have finally published the album with snaps from my Columbus/Chicago trip. That took a real long time to see the light of day.

So with the World Cup over need to find something else to keep myself. Time to change my desktop image and also to remove the Joga Bonita addin from my Firefox. Wonder what is next around the corner.

I wonder if anyone noticed Dutch supporters watching the Ivory Coast match in their underpants. If you did do not be shocked, as it was the Sponsor Police guard at work.

Up to 1,000 Dutch fans watched their side play Ivory Coast in their underpants on Friday after they were denied entry to Stuttgart's stadium for wearing orange trousers with the name of a Dutch brewery which was not an official sponsor.

It's been a long time since the news of eBay buying out Skype hit the news-stand. I had been wondering what happened to the buyout as I had not seen Skype being used anywhere in eBay all this while. And you would expect any such investment being put to use ASAP. So setting all my doubts in place eBay has announced that starting today, buyers will be able to communicate with sellers who have Skype installed on their machine on certain products. The Lake House

Keanu Reeves has never stopped amazing me with the range of movies he has acted in. He could fit into any role, an action hero a.k.a Tom Cruise an disoriented character, an emotional freek, or a hopeless romantic. Even though he has had a Super Hit too many I believe he restrains himself and that's why he has not been able to rise to the top most Hollywood actors of our times.

The Lake House, the most recent we have got to see of this actor is another feather in his crown. Although the concept of the movie is the real winner both Keanu and Sandra carry the characters on their shoulders with great maturity. A wonderful romantic movie it makes you think unlike a Pretty Women or Notting Hill. This left me thinking, when was the last time my brain cells were made to work after I watched a movie. I am not talking about the intellect but the analytic part of your brain. I would it was The Matrix, another Keanu show.

I am sure just as The Matrix had in the past, The Lake House will also get the message boards ringing with the viewers airing their interpretations and views of what they percieve the Director meant. I already found one going in IMDB.

Here is what I understood and welcome anyone to put in their counter views :

The movie show's Alex Wyler and Kate Forster living two years apart communicating with each other. This makes you think that they are actually living two years apart, but they actually do exist together but Alex is communicating to his future and Sandra is communicating to her past.
And what really happens is that this little time communication helps change their future.

The movie starts with Kate in 2006 and Alex in 2004. They begin communicating right begining 2006 (for Kate). Valentine's Day 2006 Alex dies in a roadside accident. Now this happens before they even get close to each other. So when Alex dies in the roadside accident was he actullay there to meet Kate, or was he just passing by. I believe he was just passing by.
They decide to meet at a restuarant, but he doesn't make it. This leads them to break apart. Alex moves to Chicago and starts to work with his brother. Come 2006 February 14th and he knows where Kate will be on the day. But simultaneously on February 14th, 2008 Kate realises that it was Alex who died in the roadside accident two years ago and so she needs to inform him of the danger. She tells him not to try meeting her for the next two years. Most probably because if he still meets her at the restaurent she will not get to know in 2008 of his death and he would eventually die. I do not know. But I think so.

But what I still couldn't understand is the timeline of the shot where they show her finding the book under the house plank. The house would most probably be the house which Simon, Alex' brother renovated from the ruins for Kate and Morgan. Then as shown in the movie they first approach Simon on February 14th, 2008 but Kate meets Alex on February 14th 2008. So it could have been a possibility which could have happened if Alex really died on Feb 14th 2006.

So I do not think that anyone can really explain what really happened in the movie, but it did get me and My Puchee discuss and rake our brains on our drive back from AMC. I'm gonna go and watch Cars or Tokyo Drift to get me out of this mood.

My Puchee's B'Day

It's been a long while since I thought about blogging, but since it looks like the main theme of my blog seems to be changing, my puchee's B'Day seems to be a wonderful time to start again.

So it was June 15th and coming 18 days after my own I really had to come out blazing showing a lot of creativity to beat this.

Now planning a B'Day party in my opinion means taking care of the following :

1) Gift
2) Cake
3) The midnight and evening party

Imagestation helped me pick the Gift and Personalized card for her (in addition to a Women's Best Friend which she picked up on her own). The cake from Cold Stone Creamery. I picked the Midnight Delight from among the collection. It was winner. And the party's were at Bobby Q and Elephant Bar

Boddy Q's was a find as I nor anyone among us had ever been there. A great place for food, booz and dance. And the live band Metalhead which play's there every Wednesday night was a great Icing. Elephant Bar was a good place to have dinner as always.

Seem's like I did a good Job of arranging the perfect day for my Darling, now looking forward to the Chicago trip next week.

I started the blog expecting to be writing on a daily basis looking to introspect into what I wanted from life as such, and try to find out who I really was. Itz been so many months since I have done anything other than post my picture on the blog. And now I think that I need to put in here what has caused me to be so...
